Home made bouillon from bones and cartilages has lots of benefits. Oh, and the taste is amazing. Take it by itself or add to your dishes for extra flavor. 👌

Recipe

Homemade Bouillon or broth
(can be chicken, beef or fish)

Ingredients

  • Bones (2kg/4.4 pounds)
  • Fresh herbs (Thym & Laurel)
  • 1 big onion
  • 1 big carrot
  • 1 Leek
  • 10 peppercorns

Needed

  • Big pan

Prepare

  1. Cut the onion, carrot and leek in big pieces and smash the peppercorns.
  2. Fill the pan with 3 liter cold water.
    Put in the 2 kg fresh bones (frozen works too). Slowly let the water with the bones come to boil. 
  3. Once the water boils, turn down the gas and take out the brown, that comes surfacing the water. 
  4. Add other ingredients to the pan and make it boil again. Once the water is slowly boiling turn down the gas to simmer. Leave it simmer for 4 - 5 hours. 
  5. After 4-5 hours, take out the bones and herbs.
    Keep the inside of the bones (the good stuff) and the vegetables in a separate container and smash them with a hand-blender. ( this can also be use to flavour your food). 
  6. Put the bouillon also in a separate container.Let it cool down and store in the fridge.
  7. After 4-5 hours in the fridge take the excess of fat from the  bouillon, to avoid you over eat fat. Ready enjoy. 

Delicious with

Add some of the mix and or bouillon to a couple of meals per day.
